New in Grand Haven: Mi Bike Tours Partners with Off the Chain for An exclusive brewstillery stop!

Big news for beer lovers, cocktail enthusiasts, and adventure seekers visiting Grand Haven in the summer. Mi Bike Tours is excited to announce our official partnership with Off The Chain - the newest (and coolest) addition to the Grand Haven bars and distilleris scene. Starting summer 2025, Off The Chain will be the final stop on our afternoon bike & brew tour—and we scored you an exclusive discount, $2 off your first drink!

Hold up, what’s a brewstillery?

A brewstillery is a brewery + distillery combo, meaning they brew their own beer and distill their own spirits on site. Cue Hannah Montana belting: You get the beeest of both worlds!🎤

And get this, Off The Chain isn’t just any brewstillery. It’s Grand Haven’s first distillery since prohibition. That’s right, for nearly a century, Grand Haven had zero distilleries making all of their spirits in the city. Now, Off The Chain is bringing locally made spirits back to town, and they’re doing it with serious craft and creativity.

What makes Off The Chain the best new bar in grand haven?

Looking for the best craft drinks in Grand Haven? Whether you’re exploring Grand Haven breweries, bars, or distilleries, Off The Chain is a must visit. Here’s why:

✔️Freshly brewed beer on tap? Coming right up.

✔️Cocktails with just distilled liquor and homemade syrup? Done.

✔️House-made sodas with less sugar (because you love your kids, but not their sugar rush)? Yep, they’ve got that too.

Off The Chain doesn’t just brew their own beer and distill their own spirits, they craft every single ingredient from scratch. Syrups, essences, mixers—you name it, they make it.

That ginger beer in your mule? Yeah, that’s fresh ginger, hand-grated in the back. No shortcuts here.

Best Mocktails in Grand Haven

One of the things I’m most excited about at Off The Chain is their expansive mocktail menu.

Unlike most breweries, distilleries, and bars that throw a token one or two mocktails on the menu (if you’re lucky), Off The Chain offers at least four hand crafted mocktails. Just like their cocktail menu, their mocktail offerings rotate seasonally to keep things fresh. Oh, and they usually have a mocktail special too.

AND IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER…

Have you ever flipped over the cocktail menu, hoping for a decent non-alcoholic option, only to find the mocktails coast basically the same as a cocktail, maybe a dollar or two less?

…And if you were to add a shot (essentially turning the drink into a cocktail), it would cost more than a regular cocktail? The math isn’t mathing. 🤔

Here’s where Off The Chain really stands out: mocktails made with the same fresh, high-quality ingredients at a price that accurately reflects the cost of alcohol. In all my travels—across the US and Europe—this is the only place I’ve found a mocktail that is fairly price (in my opinion). *The numbers speak for themselves:

Cocktail - $12

Mocktail - $6

Yep, their mocktails are literally half the price of their cocktails!?! How are they staying in business with those prices? It’s almost like…they care more about their customers than squeezing every last penny out of your pocket. What a concept! 😉

Off The Chain gets it. Gotta love a small business that’s got your back!

Sneak Peek: best drinks to try at Off The Chain

While their menu is always evolving, here are a few must-try drinks:

Off The Chain Beer Recommendations:

Rusty Spoke

I’m a sucker for anything coffee, and this coffee stout brewed with beans from Grand Haven’s local coffee shop, Aldea Coffee DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!

The Chain

Their flagship beer is an easy drinking IPA that is juicy and rye-forward. I’m not an IPA girlie, but my husband loves them and was wow-ed by this brew!

Ying Yang

Truth be told, I’m more likely to go for a cocktail than a beer, but this American Lager puts that sentiment to the test for me. It’s so light and refreshing, perfect drink to sip with your buddies after a long bike ride on a hot sunny day.

Off The Chain Cocktail Recommendations:

Beet It, Rosemary

If you love beets, this cocktail is a MUST. If you think beets taste like dirt, this cocktail is still a MUST. After my first sip I said, who knew beets could taste this good?! It’s sweet, bright, and just the right amount of fancy. Feels like something a master mixologist would whip up in a speakeasy.

Wendy’s Water

Strawberry and balsalmic in a cocktail? Yes please! This beauty is tart, slightly sweet, and complex in the best way. One of the most popular craft cocktails in Grand Haven you’ll find at Off The Chain

OTC Mule

You pick the spirit (gin for me, please!), they mix it with their in-house ginger beer and fresh lime juice. Classic, crisp, refreshing, and unlike any mule you’ve ever had. Their homemade ginger beer is next level!

Off The Chain Mocktail Recommendations:

Beet It Hee-Hee

The N/A spirit gives it depth, the beet cordial beings that earthy-sweet goodness, and the lemon and fizz keeps it light. It’s a mocktail that feels like a cocktail.

Jazzy Jazz

Jasmine simple syrup, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and ginger beer. Can someone say bright, citrusy party in a glass?! And don’t forget, because of the ginger beer she’s a little bit spicy!

Hop Water

I like to think of this as my favorite seltzer if it leveled up an on a tropical vacation. The blueberry, pineapple and Mosiac hop extract topped with fizz is fruity, crisp, and only slightly hoppy!

OFF THE CHAIN QUICK QUESTIONS for the first timer:

Does Off the Chain Have Outdoor Seating?

Yes! Off The Chain’s outdoor seating is next-level. Their massive garage door rolls up to reveal a gorgeous, astro-turfed patio that’s got all the cozy, laid-back vibes. Think string lights, fire pits, and a mix of tables and Adirondack chairs—perfect for everything from a casual drink with friends to a full-on summer night hangout.

And if you’ve got kids in tow? No problem. The patio is super family-friendly, with plenty of space for little ones to run around and play in a fully gated area. So whether you're sipping on a craft cocktail, enjoying a house-made mocktail, or just soaking up the fresh air, Off The Chain’s outdoor space has you covered.

Does Off the chain have food?

No, Off The Chain does not have food. They do have a few snacks, think charcuterie board and beer cheese. The good news is directly across the street is Unicorn Tavern, an incredible Belgium themed gastropub with a robust, fresh menu. Like Off The Chain, Unicorn Tavern focuses on locally sourced ingredients with the highest quality.

You can order take-out from Unicorn Tavern and eat it at Off The Chain. Depending on how busy Unicorn Tavern is (and how nicely you ask😉), they might even deliver your to-go order to your table at Off The Chain!

If you’re with a group, try the The Monk’s Board. It’s a giant pretzel stuffed with meats, cheeses, fruits, and dipping sauces. Essentially a charcuterie board, but in a giant pretzel.

If you want dinner, try the Cha-Cha-Cha-Chickpea burger (I like it ‘Mushroom & Mozz style). Doesn’t matter if you are a vegetarian or not. Try their Chickpea burger. Homemade patty that doesn’t fall apart, fresh crunchy pickles, homemade ketchup, and more on a pretzel bun. My mouth is watering just typing this. Trust me, try it. Have I made it clear how enamored I am with this burger? 😂

Off The Chain also has rotating Food Trucks in their parking lot most weekends. Check their social media to find out which Food Truck will be parking for the day. Again, love how this community continues to support fellow small businesses, we all win together!

Where to Park?

Quite possibly the only downside to Off The Chain (and Grand Haven as a whole) is the limited parking. Off The Chain has a very small lot, but if there is a food truck there’s a good chance you will be parking on the street. If street parking is also full, I’d recommend you park in Saluka Field’s parking lot and then walk over (3 minute walk). Try to carpool if you’re going with a group!

Or…ride a bike! They have TONS of bike (like a bike bike, not motorcycle) parking!
